The highly anticipated Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort has just bid us adieu and many known and new designers have successfully showcased their collections at the 5 days of the Fashion Week. The day 4 has witnessed the latest collection by the Gen Next debutants Saaksha and Kinni entitled Nomada that was inspired from their happy childhood memories. The designer duo is best known for creating impactful and comfortable occasion wear. Their label is just two years old and is strongly rooted to the Indian tradition with bold prints, strong metallic and stone embroidery.
The Nomadic Inspiration
Saaksha and Kinni’s latest collection has taken inspiration from all of their early travelling memories across the country. Spending most of their summer time in Gujarat and Rajasthan, the Lehariya Prints influenced them which they incorporated as the abstract florat prints and micro- pleating into their latest ‘Nomada’ collection. Travelling from North to South, the checkered pattern from traditional ‘lungi’ has triggered the duo to pick the print as their inspiration.
The fabrics used were lightweight and comfortable that featured breezy cottons and organza. The choice of these fabrics symbolized their warm daytime memories. As the light fabrics were symbolizing the warm memories, the dark hints of the velvet and brocades paid tribute to the cooler nights. The color palette they chose were the hues of rich burgundies, pinks, bright mustards and warm blues.
Saaksha and Kinni exclusively collaborated with A.S.Motiwala and Orra to provide the duo with jewelries that gave the audience a fresh look on how fine jewelry doesn’t have to be heavy bridal pieces, but rather be simple and clean. The hair was textured and tied into the sleek ponytail, while the make-up was fresh with pop of color on the eyes.
Bollywood actress Pooja Hedge was the ultimate showstopper for the designer duo. She walked the ramp in the beautiful checkered dress and fine diamond jewelry. Saaksha and Kinni have used their signature style to curate this collection, where they flawlessly played with the aspects of femininity and masculinity.
Along with the duo, desingers Nikhil Thampi, Shivan & Naresh, Narendra Kumar and Raghvendra Rathod have also showcased their collections at the fourth day of Lakme Fashion Summer/Resort 2019.
