Last Friday, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles has witnessed the first-ever Vegan Fashion Week. With the New York Fashion Week around the corner, Vegan Fashion Week made an extravagant debut. The event was organized by the founder of creative agency Le Frenchlab, Emmanuelle Rienda. The show was a private event where the guests got to experience the first look of animal friendly designs.
The animal-friendly collection on the Vegan Fashion Week
The fashion show was kick-started with the models walking down the ramp promoting vegan lifestyle while wearing animal-friendly outfits. The collections included avant-garde designs with faux-leather that was made from pineapple fibers and apple skin. It also featured natural dyes and recycled fibers. While showcasing the varieties of animal-friendly collections, Vegan Fashion Week provided us a wide range of ‘vegan’ clothing.
As per the reports, Rienda plans to continue the Vegan Fashion Week to spread awareness about usage of animal skin in fashion industry. She wants to make veganism as the important part of the industry. The fashion show brought the whole new spectrum of vegan designs, which proves the designers don’t need animal skin to be creative.
Designers joining the Vegan Family
Luxury brands such as Versace, Michael Kors, Gucci, Coach, Burberry, Donna Karan, DKNY, Maison Margiela, Diane Von Furstenberg and Chanel are dedicated towards the fur-free designs and no longer use animal fur for their collections. Recently Calvin Klein, Armani and Vivienne Westwood have also joined the family.
The world of fashion is evolving and many high end designers are showing more creativity without using animal skin. Everyone is becoming more responsible towards society and environment. The designers are supporting the cruelty-free fashion which is now raising questions on the future of fur in the fashion industry.
